Summer 2022

Oh… those carefree and fun filled days I remember as a small child…that the Summer season offered me! I sometimes wish I could relive those days…but I know I can’t turn back the clock on time…but in present time…I can truly enjoy thinking about those memories…as well as create fun and good times right now.

I spent most of my days outside…playing…roller skating…playing Jacks…and marbles…playing dodge ball…and jumping the fence to our neighbors to sneak blackberries from their vines. The taste of sweet…warm blackberries plucked from their vines was such a treat for me. How wonderful they tasted…all plump and juicy.

One of my favorite memories is collecting an old jar with a lid…and catching tadpoles…at a creek close by. I would then come home…and put the jars with the caught tadpoles in the garage on a counter…and check on them each day. I was so thrilled when the tadpoles finally turned into little frogs! I just thought that this was the best thing in the whole wide world! After I watched the frogs…which were very tiny…for a few days…in wonder…I would set them free outside…and watched them scamper off…wondering to myself if they would live without my care.

To be a child again…full of energy…imagination…and carefree…is just the best time in the world.

I ponder things like this…as I age…on my Earth journey.

How can I bring that carefree child spirit I once was…into my present day life?

Well…I can! Just in different ways…but it still nurtures and embraces the “child” within…something that is so emotionally and mentally healthy for each one of us as adults…to keep alive…and embrace.

My garden and my herbs have replaced catching tadpoles…and my imagination has no limits. I love to laugh…and watch silly goofy movies…just as I did way back then.

I also collect Calico Critters…the most adorable little animal dolls. They come with clothes…and accessories…and my husband bought me their Calico Critter house as a gift last year. I tell you…these sweet little animals and their cuteness…just make me feel joy…and keep my spirit young and feeling carefree…something I never want to give up or replace.

The Summer season is indeed about change and growth…but also about play…and I hope each one of you…give yourself permission to be and honor that child within you…and play too!

By doing so…you will bring balance and harmony…and good old- fashioned fun into your life…and that my friends is living the good life!

In the spirit of play…

Victoria
